Another thing these western saddle bar or counter stools have in common is that, just like the horse saddles, they never feature a back rest, or the arm rests.
When space is at a premium in your bar or around your counter top, you will want to either get a backless adjustable height stool to take up the least amount of space, or you will go for a folding counter stool. A folding counter stool will collapse the back rest, the seat, and the legs into a single thin plane, and so flattened will become highly useful for stowing away, and for transporting it from room to room, and even to an entirely new place altogether, such as a second home.
A counter stool proper: A counter top height is about 36 inches, or about three feet. For an average height American, this is a good size for food preparation. And when one wants to eat breakfast at the counter, the appropriate height of the breakfast stool seat is 24 inches or so, which is termed the counter stool height. For busy people, this is a great choice of height: The food can be prepared and consumed in the same space, and it can be consumed either sitting up or standing down on a modern counter stool. Lots of choices, and no hassle with setting up another table when in a hurry.
